Rooted in God’s purpose

Our mission is rooted in God’s purpose to reconcile mankind to himself. It is the nature of our God to search for and save those who are lost. This has been God’s mission since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.

God’s call to the lost

After Adam and Eve had fallen into sin through Satan, God came searching for the people He had created for Himself. He called out to them:  “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). Today, God is still calling out to those who are lost and asking, “where are you?”. God wants all those who have fallen away from him to come back to Him: “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Carrying forward God’s mission

God’s mission is our mission. There is no other mission apart from the mission to reconcile mankind to God. Our Lord Jesus Christ came to carry out this same mission – “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10), Before our Lord Jesus Christ went back to heaven, He said to those who believed in Him: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21). At God’s Power Evangelical Church Gorinchem, we are committed to continuing this mission that our Lord Jesus Christ has handed over to all those who believe in him. Our goal is to bring this message of reconciliation to all people of the world.

Ambassadors of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 says: “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf:  Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God”
